At this stage, no human remains were found in that crashplace. But guys are still digging.
Also, very close to it, another 110G was found, this time from I./ZG1, shot down on 02.06.43.

Hello Matti!

The pilot Ofw. Otto Elz (23.06.1913) was taken prisoner. The observer and radio operator, going down on parachutes, were shot by machine-gun fire the Russian soldiers.

Kind regards,
Oleg

Summary of the Sovinformbureu on May 27, 1943
******
The captured Ober-Feldwebel, the pilot of the Messerschmitt-110 aircraft of the 3rd detachment of the German intelligence group Otto Elts, said: "Our group is organized a few weeks ago and arrived on the Eastern Front a week ago. The standard set of the 3rd squadron consists of 9 airplanes. However, half of them have already disappeared. One plane crashed when flying from Germany, the second lost its way and suffered an accident in a habitual landing. Two planes were shot down by Russian pilots. My plane was hit by a direct hit by a Russian antiaircraft gun projected in the vicinity of the railway. Official German reports on the losses of German aviation do not enjoy any confidence. Reading of reports is usually accompanied by ridicule and venomous witticisms at the address of those who write such blatant nonsense. From numerous observations I concluded that the pilots who have already visited Russia do not have the slightest desire to return back. I also did not want to go to the front, for it is clear to me that Germany will not succeed in defeating defeat. And when faith in victory is undermined and lost, it is impossible to fight. "
******
So, Otto Elz survived, to have been interrogated.

Re: Bf110 crashplace, need help. 35Ost63533

Interesting thread. In my humble opinion, access to Soviet archives should allow to complete a lot of German losses where the aircraft and crew are just listed as missing in Luftwaffe losses list, just as in this case.

Thanks to all
