Bordfunker Helmut FRIEDRICHS - KG 30

Good morning to all.

Am seeking the date and cause of death of Bordfunker Helmut FRIEDRICHS, who was at some time the Bordfunker of Leutnant Günther Jahr of 1./KG 30.

It seems that Helmut Friedrichs, who got the EKI was killed somewhere on May 1943.

I went through BAMA RL 2-III_1189 Bd. 18 - from the beginning to the end and got no joy in finding a KG 30 loss with his name. The closest I came to was a collision between two Ju 88 A-4 on the 28th May 1943, killing Uffz Helmut Diebold, amongst the full two crewmembers.

Does anyone do have a clue about the FATE of Helmut Friedrichs (Bordfunker of KG 30)? Did he was transferred to another Kampfgeschwader or unit, hence my difficulty in finding his wehreabouts?

What happened also to Leutnant Günther Jahr?

My gratitude for any pointings or information related to those two airmen.

Adriano

Hello Adriano,
are you sure he was killed? I cannot find him in the KG 30 losses. His Pilot Lt Günter Jahn stayed with KG 30 serving with 2.(J)/KG 30 in 1945.

Re: Bordfunker Helmut FRIEDRICHS - KG 30

Hello Peter.

I deduced he was killed by the information from a seller:

Foto Luftwaffe Flugzeug 1./KG 30 FF. Günther Jahr und BF Helmut Friedrichs 5/43+
Foto Luftwaffe Flugzeug Bordfunker Helmut Friedrichs LNS 6(See) Dievenow/Wollin

But I guess I misinterpreted the + (cross or plus) after May 1943...maybe circa May or plus 1943, instead of 5/43 KIA?

Am sure that Helmut Friedrichs got the EKI, but am not sure when (date). I did not found a KG 30 loss list, but checked some other units losses (KG 51, KG 55) and got no joy either in findihg him amongt the crew losses.

Thank you so much for informing me that Günther Jahr was still with 2.(J)/KG 30 in early 1945. Great news this one. This is not on De Zeng's huge LW Officers Files.

Most humbly yours,
Adriano
