II./KG 40 - Kdr.

Hello,

According to the Career Summaries - Luftwaffe Officers 1935 - 1945 pages by Henry L.deZeng, II./KG 40 lost two Kdr in 1942:
Hptm. Wendt Freiherr von Schlippenbach on 7/4/42 and
Hptm. Waldemar Hörner zu Drewer on 25/6/42.
The first is burried at Ysselsteyn, the second is still missing.
Does anyone knows the rest of the crewmembers who were lost together with their Kdr.?
Thanks in advance and kind regards.
Dirk

Re: II./KG 40 - Kdr.

The other crewmen for the 7-4-42 ( Do217E-4 F8+GC 1161 ) were B Ofw.Helmut Thiele, Bf Ofw Paul Schulz, Bm Ofw Conrad Schmidt I believe the wreck of this aircraft was found in June 1980 at Flevoland. For the 25-6-42 (Do217E-4 F8+AC 5454 )I have B Ofw Gottfried Wilkinski, Bf Fw Hermann Punner , Bm Fw Karl Brunner ( these three names are hard to read),

I can confirm that the names for the first loss are as what Brian wrote-night of 7-8 Apr 42 over north sea between Holland and English coast whilst attacking Grimsby.

Name for the second are Ofw Gottfried Wilkowski, Fw Hermann Pünner, Fw Karl Brunner. All missing 24-25 Jun 42 attacking Birmingham
