Hans Halbey had an impressive post-war career, being a renowned artist, author, and long time director of the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz.

Re: 109 pilot info sought

Hi Phil

Funny thing, I have Halbey's losses as:-

22nd February 1944 Bf109 unharmed
28th May 1944 Bf109 baled-out wounded
30th July 1944 Bf109 baled-out wounded
25th December 1944 Bf109 baled-out wounded

If it is the same guy as with Jg27, then the poor man despite his bravery, must have been a liability.

All would be with III./JG1

Just two confirmed claims:-

24th February 1944 P-47 Liege area 1422 hrs 8500 metres A.S.M
28th May 1944 P-51 Marburg area 1528 hrs 400 metres

Both as a Leutnant with III./JG1. D.O.B 19th August 1922, Formerly with 2./Jgr.Sud.

Kind Regards

Johannes
