Re: Photos KuK Fokker Aircraft

Hi Clint

Grosz/Koos identifies 03.03 as belonging to Flik 8 and the pilot as Oblt Wedige von Froteich

The B.III 04.31 is a puzzle. According to Grosz Bible the range went from 04.11 to 04.27. Grosz also says 18 M.18 were bought but only 17 were issued with serial numbers.

However I have located a second batch in a book by Hauke/Schröder/Tötschinger, 04.31 to 04.38!
Unfortunately when this book was published in 1988 it received pretty bad reviews, among others by Grosz himself, and to a certain degree I have to say the critics were right. But in this case it seems they were right and Grosz wrong....of course depending on if the others, 04.32 - 04.38 actually existed.

One other possibillity would be that the 18th M.18 above was serialled 04.31 for some unknown reason....

Thoughts?
Cheers
Stig

Hi Stig,

Grosz,Haddow Schiemer Austro-Hungarian Army Aircraft of World War I P.344/P.345 has the information you're looking for seven completed and assigned to Flek 6. I've a feeling the photo on P.345 is identical to my second link to 04.31.

I am correct in assuming you have the work referred to I think. I thought you'd referred to in in another post at some stage.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Photos KuK Fokker Aircraft

I do

Sorry to say I missed out those two pages. Again, as I said in my previous answer, I am not 100% comfortable with the Hungarian serial number system
This time I went quite a bit astray

Cheers
Stig

Re: Photos KuK Fokker Aircraft

Hello,

Today on ebay there is a photo of Fokker B.III 04.12 flown by Stefan Laszlo at:

https://www.ebay.de/itm/M26-gr-Foto-...UAAOSwtMVelGu-

Safe to say given the english text at the bottom of the image this is copied, however, I would be interested if anyone knew which unit operated 04.12.

Regards,

Clint
