Re: Any use of the Albatros DV after WW1
Hope this may be of help/interest
http://en.allexperts.com/e/f/fo/fokker_d.vii.htm http://en.allexperts.com/e/p/po/polish-soviet_war.htm Postwar, the D.VII saw extensive use in the United States, where 142 captured examples were evaulated. The D.VII also served in the Polish (around 50), Dutch, Swiss, and Belgian air forces. It was the most numerous Polish fighter of the Polish-Soviet War. The D.VII proved to be so popular that Fokker completed and sold a large number of D.VII airframes that he had smuggled into the Netherlands after the Armistice. As late as 1929, the Alfred Comte company manufactured eight new D.VII fighters under licence for the Swiss Fliegertruppe. Kind regards Ross |

Ross:
Was he not asking about the Albatross DV and not the Fokker D VII? |

Re: Any use of the Albatros DV after WW1
Well Rick
Poland operated a couple for certain. Russia (Soviet Union) is reported to have had a few captured ones and it is not impossible for other (to me) obscure Eastern European countries at this time to have operated some. Cheers Stig |

Re: Any use of the Albatros DV after WW1
The Kagero-booklet on the Albatros fighters counts 3 Albatros D.V and 15 D.Va for the Polish Air Force. Most of them were used for training in pilot schools (especially at Lawica), however the D.V were used also for reconnaisance flights over territory occupied by Germans. 2 Albatros D.Va were used as covering planes in the 8th and 9th Reconnaisance Flights in the Polish-Soviet War and one of the D.V was briefly used by the Naval Air Force.
The last D.V was withdrawn from service in November 1922. |

Re: Any use of the Albatros DV after WW1
Rick,
there are two photos of Polish pilots in front of a D.V, but the first photo shows no visible Polish markings on the aircraft and the other aircraft has still German markings. And there is a color profile of the D.V in Polish markings which served in the Naval Air Force. Best wishes, Robert |
