Sam McHardy describes a hit and run raid by a single Junkers 88 and gives the date as 1 February 1942.
Is it correct ? Any details appreciated Andy Bird |

Re: Single Ju 88 hit and run Sumburgh Feb 1942
H.O. report for week ending 4-Feb-42 says there were bombing incidents along the East coast of England and Scotland during both day and night. One key point an RAF Aerodrome was hit . it then has 1st Feb.42 Major Towns nil - Rest of the country - Shetlands; RAF Aerodrome, Sumburgh.
Looks like Sam was right , no info. on the Ju 88 though, if a Squadron was based there would their ORB perhaps have something on the attack Regards Brian Bines |
