Jagdgeschwader Pilot: Unit Related Questions

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone can answer a couple of unit questions for me.
I am in the process of writing up a wehrpass in my collection and amongst the units listed is 4./Erg-Jagdstaffel Merseburg. Prior to the airman being assigned to this unit on the 1st July 1940 he was with 9./JG 2 and after he left this unit he went to 1./JG 52, which am I right in thinking didn't have an Erg-Jagdstaffel set up until October 1940? He had already spent time at Erg-Jagdstaffel JG 2 in late 1939 prior to going to JG 20 and would spend time at Erg-Jagdstaffel JG 52 in Oct 1940 after flying numerous missions over London & Kent during the BoB.
Can anyone tell me to which parent Geschwader 4./Erg-Jagdstaffel Merseburg belonged to or was it an independent 'catch all' unit that gave all fighter pilots their final training regardless of which unit they were to join? I have had a look on www.ww2.dk and can not find any mention of Merseburg within the entries for JG 2 as a location for a sub-unit.

My second unit question is to ask what type of unit/organisation was Feld-Flugbetriebsgruppe der F.Lzgr. Belgien/Nordfr. and what was it's principle role?

I have attached scans of the relevant entries. Any and all information is much appreciated.

Also, if possible, can anyone tell me what the top entry means here on the page listing his promotions. The last entry is for his promotion to Oberfelwebel. Thank you.

The top line means: ? der Liste der ROA gestrichen
Translation: cancelled from the list of reserve officer candidates

The last line could be "zum Ober ... bef." with the last word short for »befördert« = promoted. So, promoted to Ober [something], maybe even Oberstabs [something].

Hello Nick - I think his final promotion was to Oberfeldwebel.
