JG 302: too many Kommodores!

Hi there!

Cross-checking different sources* I come up with too many Kommodores for JG 302:
- Ewald Janssen: 10/43-06/44 and at the same time Kommandeur III./JG 302, 11/43-06/44
- Manfred Mössinger: 11/43-09/44 (the Geschwaderstab was disbanded in June)
- Kurd Peters: 06/44-06/44.

Can anyone help me to sort this out?
Thanks in advance.

Chris

Re: JG 302: too many Kommodores!

Hi Chris,

from my notes. Indeed it is confusing. Also with the Kommodores of J.G. 301.

Major Ewald Janssen moved as Kommodore to S.G.4 on 22.6.44.
Hptm. Manfred Mössinger Komm. of J.G. 302 to disbanding in August 1944. Later Kommodore of S.G. 77 from 16.2.45.
For my opinion Major Kurd Peters was never Komm. of J.G. 302. Kdr. II./J.G. 300 and later Komm. J.G. 300.

Additions and corrections any time desired.

Rgds,
Kaczmarek

Hi CJE,

Just to confirm, information from Janssen's Wehrpass states I./J.G. 300 to 26 October 1943, Stab J.G. 302 to 22 June 1944, and then Stab S.G. 4.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
