I suppose the first thing to do to clear this up would be for someone who has a copy of the NVM loss data for Christian Eickhoff on 26.01.1943 to post the relevant page to determine if Christian was KIA or WIA and secondly if anyone can supply copies of original documentation that state that Christian (or another Christian?) was still in JG2 after 26.01.1943. I would also be interested to see the loss data for Ltn Eichhoff when WIA 07.06.1944.
Hello,

I have checked my NVM copies of JG 2 and Oblt. Christian Eickhoff was at first listed as missing on 26.1.1943 30 km West of Le Touquet. Later with supplement from 22.4.43 listed as killed. DOB 28.8.1915 Shanghai/China.

No loss data of Lt. Eichhoff on the complete year of 1944.
Heinz Eichhoff survived the war and he lived in Berlin.

Hope this helps.
Rgds,
Kaczmarek

Re: Fate of Lt. Heinz Eichhoff, pilot serving with 2./JG2 in the summer of 1943?

Hello,

I am in touch with both families.
Indeed, like I wrote in the JG 2 chronicle Christian Eickhoff was born in China where his family had a good position. He wanted to go back to Germany in order to fight for the Reich which was in total opposition with his father's will. He had to escape has family and caught a boot in secret to Germany.
He was KIA as Stk. of 2./JG 2.

Heinz Eichhoff was posted in April 1943 to 2./JG 2. He took part to his Staffel's reconversion as night-fighter in Summer 1943 - like detailled in the chronicle JG 2. He survived the war.

Erik
