Re: Photo Spad
Hi Nick,
Very much taking on board your comments about the problem with numerals 3 & 5 I believe you may well be correct with 6379. Having said that I do have some Spad S.XI serials in the 65** range as well as 63**. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Spad
Hello,
Currently on ebay there is a photo of a crashed Spad of, I believe, SPA.98 at: https://www.ebay.de/itm/185218835487...EAAOSw2OJhvOym As far as I'm aware all the usual areas allowing a differention of the type of Spad shown are not visible in this photo.I cant tell whether its a Spad S.VII or Spad S.XIII.Can anyone identify the type of aircraft shown? Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo Spad
Clint
Not much help here I'm afraid, but if you look at the flip side of the photo there is a date listed, 7.6.1917 The text is extremely fuzzy so not even tried to understand what it says. No idea, of course, who wrote the date, ie if it is contemporary or done by some collector afterwards. But if the date is correct SPA 98 is wrong since that unit was not created, as N 98, until 1 Jan 1918. Cheers Stig |
