Lt. Heinz KUHLBRODT - MIA 1 August 1944 - FATE?

Dear all,

According to "De Zeng and all", on the Luftwaffe Officers List G-K, a certain Leutnant Heinz Kuhlbrodt was KIA or MIA on the 1st August 1944.

KUHLBRODT, Heinz. (DOB: 05.01.21 ). 01.11.41 promo to Lt./A1. 01.08.44 officially listed as MIA

Any information regarding the aircraft (werknummer, codes), eventual other crewmembers, unit of this particular airman is most welcomed.

I have tried to find more, but got no joy.

He "may" be probably related to either a Training Unit (A/B Schule or C-Schule), or was he related to those other two losses on the 1st August 1944:

a)- 6.(F)/122 > Ju 88T-1 Werk # 430758 "F6 + OM" crashed at Vercelli.

b) Lt. Uwe Laas, 5/KG-51, Me 410A-1/U2 at Bargny, no further detail.

The only casualty of this crash was Uffz. Viktor Klemm (KIA).

1941-11-30, 1.(H)/14, Hs 126 B-1, 3380, 5F+KH, (Jeremajawo-Kosino-Tschernaja Gras-Ljalowo-Marino)
Flugzeugführer Ofhr Kuhlbrot, Heinz, vermißt
Beobachter Ofw Berndsen, Andreas, vermißt
Vom Feindflug nicht zurückgekehrt. Bruch 100 %.

The date is not 100 % sure. GQM gives 1941-11-26 and in the NVM there is a hand-written correction with red to 1941-11-20.

MATTI,

You are really an ACE....Owe you another one!

It is strange that the date of his dismise on Kracker is 1st August 1944....however, you matched the loss. Fantastic! Thanks a lot indeed...

Matti

Just to get things 100% here.
You actually list three dates, 30.11.1941, 26.11.1941 and 20.11.1941.
Most likely 26/11 is correct and either 30/11 or 20/11 is a slip of the finger?

Cheers
Stig

Frankly, I don't know, which date is correct. Normally I trust NVM info, but in this case even that has two dates: original typed and with red ink changed. GQM has a third, which you consider correct, but on which grounds. Have you seen other documents on this loss?

Re: Lt. Heinz KUHLBRODT - MIA 1 August 1944 - FATE?

Ahh, sorry Matti

I only thought there were two dates circulating, one with GQM and the corrected one by NVM (either 20/11 or 30/11)
Never realised NVM actually quoted both dates...

My question did not stem from any knowledge of which date was correct or not, but simply which one was not.

Cheers
Stig

Re: Lt. Heinz KUHLBRODT - MIA 1 August 1944 - FATE?

Seeing the NVM changes the date to the 20th and GQM correction note dated 3-1-42 for Bernsen's name gives loss date as the 20th would this date be more likely .

Jeremajawo-Kosino-Tschernaja Gras-Ljalowo-Marino
Good day,
here is the flight route - it's a circular route over the front line 16A on 11/30/1941:
Jeremajawo - x=37.020760&y=55.943171 (Еремеево) - the Germans
Kosino - x=37.180406&y=55.891966 (Козино) - rears 9 Guards.SD and 146 TBr
Tschernaja Gras - x=37.308478&y=55.974604 (Черная Грязь) - reserves 16 A
Ljalowo - x=37.226938&y=56.050726 (Льялово) - persistent battles on the flank of the 7th Guards. SD and the cadet regiment.
Marino - x=37.012875&y=56.019020 (Марьино) - the Germans

On November 20 and 26, the weather was bad and the work of aviation was limited. November 30 was a summer day and the front and near rear of the 16th Army was roughly along the route of the aircraft.
