DFS 230 grip
Hello,
A friend of mine recently acquired a DFS 230 control grip that according to the seller was removed from a DFS 230 at the Castel Benito (Lybia) Airfield in January 1943. It features some type of linen covering on top of the grip, which may have been a field modification to have a better grip. Does anybody have information about captured DFS 230 at Castel Benito and/or wartime photos of DFS 230 cockpits that show a similar linen covered grip? Thanks! Re: DFS 230 grip
Hi Dan,
Thanks for the scans from the handbook. That looks indead like some kind of wrapping that could be fabric (or rubber). A few wartime photos from production aircraft cockpits that I know of show grips without any cover at all. The fabric may have been a field modification or could also be a serial feature of a certain production block. Best regards, Roger |
