Luftwaffe Radar in North Africa
Does anyone know when Luftwaffe radar installations moved to North Africa, and which type they were? I have an urgent request from Fliegerfuehrer in the middle of November to send a FREYA unit, but wanted to know a bit more on the employment of Luftwaffe radar in North Africa.
I seem to remember having read that it became operational during spring 42, but any further information would be most welcome. Many thanks! All the best Andreas

Re: Luftwaffe Radar in North Africa
Hi Andreas,
From K.O. Please also see: http://www.gyges.dk/Flum%20Med%208.pdf Eventually the Ln-units in Africa were organized in Luftnachrichten-Regiment 200 and addtional info may be obtained by following the history of this unit. bregds SES |

Re: Luftwaffe Radar in North Africa
Hello Andreas, hello Michaël,
There are some interesting references too in the Korpstagebefehle des XII. Fliegerkorps, I will look tonight for you. By the way: K.O. Hoffmann has quite a substantial part written about the German radar sites in North-Africa. I must have somewhere pdf's of his books... All the best, Marcel

Re: Luftwaffe Radar in North Africa
Hello Michaël and Andreas,
I had a brief look into those Korpstagebefehle des XII. Fliegerkorps and attached to it is indeed a brief summary about the last days of the Funkmessstellungen in North Africa. I will scan these and send it to you both soon. All the best, Marcel
