Bf109 v Blenheim Sept 8th 1940
Hi,
No.218 Squadron's F/O Walter Shaw had an encounter with a Bf109 off the coast of Flushing at around 17:00 hours on the above date. His Blenheim was damaged in the encounter, as was the Bf109. The fighter was seen to shear off the attack with black smoke pouring from its engine. Obviously a long shot, any reports of any encounter on this date/time submitted. Fighters were active at this time as two other crews reported fighter activity. Any help appreciated. Steve

Re: Bf109 v Blenheim Sept 8th 1940
I can see no Bf 109 damaged in combat that would match and as there was no confirmed kill, the Luftwaffe would not have accepted it. However, I believe that elements of II./JG 54 were still lurking in that area?
