Fw 190 landings at Frankfurt Rhein Main 19 April 1945

Hello,

Two Fw 190 A/Fs landed on 19 April 1945 at occupied Frankfurt Rhein Main airfield.

The Allied reports I have of Frankfurt Rhein Main were prepared shortly after the airfield was captured and before 19 April 1945.

I cannot remember any photos of captured Fw 190 A/Fs at Rhein Main airfield.

In short: Does anyone have information about these Fw 190 A/Fs that landed at Rhein Main airfield on 19 April 1945?

Thanks,

Roger

Hello Roger,
Unless I am mistaken, one of the Fw 190s that landed at occupied Einsatzhafen I Rhein-Main on 19 April 1945 was NDW-built Fw 190 A-8 (WNr. 961065). It was marked 14+ - yellow o/l black, was from 4.II.SG3, and was piloted by Uffz. Gerhardt Kürschner.
While I have no absolute proof, I suspect that the unmarked, NDW-built Fw 190 F-8 (WNr. 932645) may be the other one.
Respectfully,
Steve Sheflin

Roger, I think this is what you're after, although it only gives details of one of the three aircraft (source: TNA AIR 40/2982).

Hello Steve,

Thank you. That's exactly what I was looking for. II./SG 3 fits with the information I have from US sources. Is there any photo known of these two aircraft? I cannot remember having seen them before.

Regards,

Roger

Nick,

thank you. Yes, that's exactly the kind of information I was looking for. Very interesting story. I wonder if there are any photos of these aircraft.

Thank you,
Roger

Hi Roger.
Thanks to Steve Sheflin, who added the W.Nr. of "gelbe 14". I know only photo "gelbe 14" and the view left side of the "gelbe 14" from a short video from Agentur Karl Höffkes.
Lubo.

Hi Lubo,

thanks for sharing these photos. Now that you have shared these I remember the first one, but I can't tell where I have seen it before. The ones from the footage are new to me and are an excellent find.

Re: Fw 190 landings at Frankfurt Rhein Main 19 April 1945

Hello,

One of the Allied reports about the landing of Yellow 14 on 19 April 1945 at Frankfurt Rhein Main airfield mentions that on the same day another aircraft had landed there. However, I could find only one reference to the second aircraft, while I found several to Yellow 14 in various Allied documents.

Does anybody have any reports (e.g. interrogation report) about the second aircraft?

Steve, you mentioned in post #2 that it may have been Fw 190 F-8, WNr. 932645. May I ask what the reasons are that you suspect that this was the second aircraft? Was its location identified as Frankfurt Rhein Main?

Roger
