GCII/7 - Accidents on the 16.05.40

Good morning,

on the 16.05.40 the GCII/7 lost two MS-406 (No.221 in Luxeuil and 802). Does anybody know more details abouts these accidents?

Regards

Robert

Re: GCII/7 - Accidents on the 16.05.40

Hello Robert,

According to the book "MS 406" from Lela Presse, it is mentioned:
  • MSN221 Immat N-583: GC II/7 3rd Escadrille - lost on ground at Luxeuil 16/05/40
  • MSN802 Immat L-831: GC II/7 3rd Escadrille - damaged on 16/05/40
Please note there is no mention that A/C were damaged or destroyed following the bombing of the Luxeuil airfield by the Lufwaffe.
Regards

Jerome

Re: GCII/7 - Accidents on the 16.05.40

Addendum,
it is related that Luxeuil airfield was straffed again by Me109E (unit?) on the June, the 16th. One Me 109E has been shoot down by the DCA ie French Flak during this attck and the A/C crashed at Champagney in Belfort County.
I guess this is during this attack that the 2 a.m. A/C have been damaged. this would be confirmed in the JMO ie ORB of the GC II/7.
Regards

Jerome
