Re: JG54 info need: Karl Brill & Hubert Muterich

In JG 54 claim lists i found more than 30 his kills, but his fate, awards is unknown.

Also Fritz Celtjen (or Oeltjen) - JG 54 LOSS LIST says he has a lots of kills, but i found just 2 in JULY 1941. Who was he?

Re: JG54 info need: Karl Brill & Hubert Muterich

Hi!

Oblt. Hubert "Hubs" Mutherich first served with I./JG 77. Knights Cross on 6 Aug 1941 for his 31 kill. Then Staffelkapitän 5./JG54. KIA on 9 Sept 1941 in Bf-109F "Schwartze 10" with 43 kills as JG 54 most sucessful Staffelkapitän. He had 8 RAF, 2 Yugoslavian and 27 Russian a/c kills, the rest I don´t know.

(His Bf-109F made a ground loop during a force-landing following a dogfight with Soviet fighters near Leningrad).

Ltn. Karl Brill, served with IV./JG54 then with JG 7 and achieved a total of 52 kills none with JG 7.

Cheers

Re: JG54 info need: Karl Brill & Hubert Muterich

Karl Brill, born 20.3.1920, died 19.01.1994. Joined 5./JG 54 in early 1942. Was also with 10./JG 54, 13./JG 54 and JG 7. I believe some 33+ victories are recorded. The 52 kills mentioned in some sources seems on the high side to me.

Fritz Oeltjen was 1939/40 in the 2.I./JG 21, tranfered to the 7.III./JG 54 1940. 1942 he was in the 5.II./JG 54, then JFS 2 and in the End of the War JG 400.
