RAF ORB's at TNA

Evening all,

Just a general plea for some assitance really regaridng TNA RAF records.

I was hopeing to download the 49 Squadron ORB from October 1943 to March 1944 and managed to successfully locate the records online but after paying for and downloading some files I realised that there were not what I required. Although very intresting I was really after the actual records of flights i.e with crew, aircraft, target details etc. I have largely been unable to locate what I require so wondered if anyone may have some more experience than me in delaing with these records?

I have also been trying to locate the 81 OTU ORB for July - August 1943 but cannot seem to track it down on the TNA, again does anyone have any insight?

Many thanks in advance

Re: RAF ORB's at TNA

Hello,
There are two ORB Forms!
Form 540: Summary of Events (Weather, target, crews detailed...)
Form 541: Details of Sortie of Flight
I think you need the Form 541 ORB's !
Details about individual a/c, crew, time up and down, bomb load etc...
Regards

Hi AJ,

As a viable alternative to the NA, I suggest you take a look here:

http://www.rafcommands.com/forum/sho...ummary-by-Unit

It will save you a lot of pain, particularly in regard to the 81 OTU ORB.

Col.
