A.M. Dawbarn 312 Czech Squadron

hi Guys
I am looking for some info on this pilot, I have seen his name on a few lists, but never his name or any background info on him

I would say he was a English Pilot who flew with the Czechs ?

he does show that he scored a kill while flying with the Czechs

thanks for any help

Re: A.M. Dawbarn 312 Czech Squadron

Alexander Andrew Marshall Dawbarn. Shared a Ju-88 on March 14, 1941 with Sgt. Joseph Stehlik (both of 312 Sqn). KIA April 10, 1941.

As far as I can tell, not a Battle of Britain pilot.

Frank.

Re: A.M. Dawbarn 312 Czech Squadron

In the encounter in which F/Lt. Dawbarn was lost he was flying with Sgt Truhlar from 312 Sqn detachment at Penhros. The report claims they were intercepting a ME110 west of Bardsey Island which sounds far beyond the range of 110,s. Anyone any ideas please?

Re: A.M. Dawbarn 312 Czech Squadron

This photo of F/Lt Dawbarn was sent to me recently by my friend Zdenek Hurt in Prague. The Hurricane was V7066 DU-T and the EA was a Dornier but I am not sure which type.

hi,

FCL vol 1 has it as 317 Sqdn, is this a typo error for 312 ?

Re: A.M. Dawbarn 312 Czech Squadron

Hi Alex
It was 312 Sqn based at Valley with a detachment at Penhros.
Atcham Tower,
It is I possible that a Dornier was misidentified as a Me110 in the heat of battle but is there a record of a loss of a Dornier for that area/date?
Regards

Hi,

F/L Dawbarn was B Flight leader.
Last seen at 2.35pm.
He was with the 312 Sqn from 01/12/1940.

Re: A.M. Dawbarn 312 Czech Squadron

Thanks AT
I have Blitz, there is a Ju88 loss from 3.(F)121 in the Irish Sea on that date but I do not have a time for the loss. Is it possible a Ju88 was mistaken for a Me110 I wonder?
