Arado 240 CB+UV

Photo of Ar 240 CB+UV surfaced some time ago on ebay.

Judging from handwritten note on the back of one of the photos from the lot the location should be 'V.f.H. Gelände' so I presume Oranienburg.

Not certain if Stammkennz. CB+UV was previously mentioned in published sources. Best I could figure out this a/c could be Ar 240 V5 or V6 that indeed were evaluated by VfH coded T5+KH and MH. Overall camo, style of markings and the way spinners are painted (black/white) are similar.

Any thoughts?

Re: Arado 240 CB+UV

Hi Pawel,

I'm not sure if this adds much to what you already know, but a couple of years ago this photo was discussed on the LRG and it is indeed the V6 at the V.f.H.Theis information appeard to be baed on Volker Koos.

Regards,

Clint

Re: Arado 240 CB+UV

Clint, other than 'Arado Flugzeugwerke' (that does not have information on Stammkennzeichen of V5 or V6 by the way) I am not aware of any other publication by Volker Koos on Arado 240... Does LRG discussion also mention Stammkennzeichen for V5?

In his 1997 article in 'Flugzeug' Heinz Mankau wrote there was no convincing evidence on V5 and V6 Stammkennzeichen, but that was 20+ years ago.

regards,

Re: Arado 240 CB+UV

Pawel,

The post quotes Koos: Arado Flugzeugwerke (Eng. 2021) pp.143 & 145.] Nothing alas for the V5.

Clint

Re: Arado 240 CB+UV

Indeed, it seems 2021 english edition is updated with some new information in comparison to 2007 german one. There is mention of CB+UV for V6 and CB+QZ for V5.

thanks,
