Re: Need help with Leadership lists for KG30
Chris,
Thanx. Since Hielscher didn't return until June 23rd, essentially at the end of the WC/FC, then this means that someone else must have stepped into the job, even if only on a temporary basis. Chris, do you have anything on an Oblt-Hptm. Eric Hass? He was apparently a StaKap before he took over as Kdr of II./KG30, and even before that, may have temporarily held a StaKap position in I./KG30. "HASS, Erich. 05.07.39 Oblt., temporary duty from III./KG 4 to Erprobungsstelle d.Lw. Rechlin. 09.10.40 Hptm., appt Kdr. II./KG 30 (to 16.10.40 MIA – aircraft crashed and exploded with full bomb load, at Bishop’s Stortford Church, due to unknown causes)" On an old list Peter Cornwell had him as temp StaKap of 2 Staffel back when we thought that Storp was StaKap of 2 Staffel. Then he has him moving to 4 Staffel as Kap, before moving up to II./KG30 GrKdr. Also, do you know anything about "Hptm. Helmut Diesing," who a PoW from mid-October, 1939, identified as the Kap of 1 Staffel (apparently before Loesch)? He was at Rechlin during the ramp up to the formation of KG30, but it's not clear what position he held. Regards, |

Re: Need help with Leadership lists for KG30
Maybe Hass' NVM will give a clue and I have nothing on Diesing apart from what you have. As to Walter Storp, he commanded the Erprobungsstaffel for the Ju 88 which was incorporated into I/KG 30 but then he moved to 8/KG 4 in Mar 40. As we know, he then went to II/KG 76

Re: Need help with Leadership lists for KG30
Hi, regarding Hptm.Walter Storp's accident on 3.6.40 when he struck the balloon cable, is the identity of his a/c known.
I see from some of the NVM reports that III/KG4 often gave the a/c code and W.Nr of their aircraft. I'm missing this particular report, also were any of his crew injured. Best regs, Steve. |

Hi Chris, can the code be seen on these photos you have.
Does anybody have a copy of the NVM for Storps accident on 3.6.40. Best regs, Steve. |
