Spitfire force-landed High Halden June 1944
Hi guys
I have accounts from three witnesses who were at High Halden ALG in late June/early July 1944, when a Spitfire force-landed after its engine seized following the explosion of a V-1. The pilot was unhurt and the Spitfire only slightly damaged. The pilot was flown back to his base aboard an AT6 Texan (Harvard). This may have occurred on 23 June 1944. Any ideas? Cheers Brian |

Could it have been Armstrong of 165 Sqn on 1 Jul?

Re: Spitfire force-landed High Halden June 1944
Hi guys
Subsequent research suggests this incident may have occurred on 18 June 1944 (sorry to keep changing the goalposts!) and may have been RB177 of 91 Squadron. Can anyone help? Cheers Brian |

Re: Spitfire force-landed High Halden June 1944
91 Sqn history says little apart from they shot down 9 Divers on 18 June but on 19th, 5 were shot down including one by Flt Lt Moffett which exploded and knocked off his prop tip.
