Always found Jan Safarik's site very good.
Hi,

I believe this information originally came from http://www.igleize.fr/aces/ww2rafgu.htm + http://www.igleize.fr/aces/ww2raffg.htm . There is a note “dubious” after the claims of Jon Robertson.

Claims by air gunners are not well researched and of course this increase the risk for mistakes. If you look at P/O Henry Jacobs with 8 claims for destroyed most of his claims must have been made as Radar operator see http://www.bbm.org.uk/airmen/Jacobs.htm

Cheers,
Peter

Re: Gunner ace

Good afternoon Gentlemen,

so you would say that neither a John Robert nor a Henry Jacobs is a real Blenheim gunner ace ?

Re: Gunner ace

Good evening,

in spite of the data on Jan Safarik's otherwise wonderful website I think that
  • John Robertson is a Wellington gunner with (dubious) 12 kills.
  • Henry Jacobs is a Beaufighter gunner ace.
Neither of them is a Blenheim gunner ace.

Re: Gunner ace

...is it known who was the top-scoring Vickers Wellington gunner or the top-scoring Wellington crew ?

Cheers,

Michael
