Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
Hello.
The grandson of Max Krebs is looking for information about his grandfather. This is considered missing in the war (over sea). Oblt. Max Krebs (born 1910) flew in the following units: Kü.Fl.Gr.106 (Küstenfliegergruppe 106) KGr.106 (Kampfgruppe 106) Finally, he should have been taken over by the KG6. We are happy about every hint. Best regards Matthias |

Re: Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
Matthias,
We have 60,000 Luftwaffe officers in our data base but there is no Max KREBS. http://www.ww2.dk/LwOffz%20G-K%202017.pdf |

Re: Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
There is nobody with that name in any maritime loss 1940-1942. Parts of 106 also went to form V./KG 40-nothing there also

Re: Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
He could have flown with Kü.Fl.Gr.106 and KGr.106 and still be not a Luftwaffe member, but a Kriegsmarine officer.
The Volksbund database has two MAx Krebs born in 1910 listed: _ one born on 15 July 1910, an Obergefreiter who died in USSR on 14 February 1943. _ one born on 19 January 1910, who is missing with a date given as 1 January 1945 in Danzig: for missing people in this database, the data should not be taken litterally but rather means "in 1945" or "in January 1945". There is no rank given, but the location has a strong link with Kriegsmarine. |

Re: Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
The grandson should establish first what is known about his grandfather at the WASt. Might take a while but then at least you have a confirmed starting point for further research at for instance VDK and DRK.

Re: Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
Hi John,
you are right: WASt information: Krebs was 1943 assigned to the 6./KG 6. But no further data. Regards Matthias |

Re: Oblt. Max Krebs, Kü.Fl.Gr.106,
A quick look at the KG 6 Chronik for 1943-44 reveals nothing
