JG 26 - 23 to 26 june 1940 near Grenoble ?
Hello every body
I'm currently working on a french recon group and i have a problem. on June 23, they flew a mission (on Potez) in the south of Lyon north Grenoble. They were intercepted by six Me 109 but escaped. On june 24, same sector morning, antother Potez fight with a Me 109. gunner was wounded. Does anyone of you have any detail about his two fights ? For me it's clearly I./JG 26 whos was in Lyon since june 23th but i found nothing in books or documents... Moreover, in the beginning of the evening "the last french fighters" (but around 40 aircraft or more) straffed heavily the 3. Panzer near Voerepe (this panzer div. was in heavy fight with french artillery). They straffed for around two hours. Why non Me of JG 26 made any interception. From Lyon to Grenoble, there is a few time of flying... Thanks to all who can help me ! Best Matt |
