Lt Wilhelm Dietz 6./NJG101

Please can anyone sort out a discrepancy regarding this pilot’s place of death, which occurred on 21 October 1944?

The possibilities are Zsira, Hungary in a Bf 110 or south of Herning, Denmark in a Ju 88 G-1. The first of these seems more likely as there is a VDK listing for him and one crew member both having died 500m south of Tenning, which is the German word for Zsira.

The crewman was Uffz Hermann Faymonville and there may have been one other called Oermann or Örmann.

Whichever location applies, please could you also confirm the aircraft, including WerkNr and code, and the crew information? I would be most grateful. Dave

It's not Herning Denmark. So your first impression is correct.
