Re: Me109E Info Wk Nr

Jim

Since neither Prien, Mombeek nor Valtonen have any losses for JG 5 on 15 Feb 1942 at all, I wonder from
where you have got that date?

The three authors have however chosen to disagree slightly on the losses dated 5 and 6 Aug 1942.

Concentrating on WNr 1369 Prien gives the WNr as such and destroyed in a ground attack at Pontsalenjoki
on the 5th
Mombeek says WNr 1639 was lost on the 6th (same place)
Valtonen also has WNr 1639 as lost on the 6th.

There is no confusion with WNr 1309 which is listed by all three authors as lost on the 6th.

Seems to me we have a printing error in JFV 9/III rather than a misread.

Cheers
Stig

Hand transcription error on my part. I have an issue in Win 11 where I can't copy a record in my db and post. Have to transcribe by hand. Date is the 5th of August in my db but my mistake transcribing.

here http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=64178 WNr.1369 was noted on 1942-08-06 but in post 2 here it was lost in 1942-02-15 or is Valtone correct with its WNr.1639

Re: Me109E Info Wk Nr

Jim

Since you now have corrected the WNr 1369 into 5240 in the other 109 thread you replied to,
what should we do with the "real" WNr 1369 in this thread?

If Mombeek and Valtonen are correct, the WNr referred to as 1369 by Prien should in fact be 1639,
meaning we thus have nothing on WNr 1369....

Cheers
Stig

WNr.1639 was 70% damaged in a landing accident with 2.Erg./JG 51 on 21-Jun-41 at Bednary. In theory that incident should have resulted in the machine being written off written-off. Pick your poison I guess.

ganz richtig !
The problem being that 70%. Doesn't mean it wasn't repairable. But - if so - I don't imagine it was sent back to another front unit at that point.

Re: Me109E Info Wk Nr

Hi Stig,

The loss can be found online on the Bundesarchiv site in RL 2-III/754, p. 66 #6. It is as Jim P. states in post 7.
