Help needed F/L Glen Allan Holland RCAF 605 Sqn MIA 20/21-4-44

F/L Glen Allan Holland RCAF 605 Sqn MIA 20/21-4-44 Hello All

I could do with some help with info on F/L G.A.Holland RCAF and F/O W.H.Wilkinson of 605 Sqn who flew an intruder sortie to Rheine airfield on the night of 20/21-4-44, they never returned and were listed missing.
I know that they were buried in the Reichwald Forest War Cemetery.


Does anyone know were there aircraft crashed, poss in the Handorf area of Germany ?

Does anyone know Were I could look at the NA at Kew for a report on there loss ? (I have the Sqn ORB for the day)


I have some details on them from the Book "Those other Eagles" by C.Shores and two books on 605 Sqn by Ian Piper, but would like to know if there are any photos of these two airmen(will be checking the IWM photo dept) any help would be appreciated.

Mike is correct. I did not notice the man in question was RCAF. AFAIK Colonials allow to research such documents but that means you must contact Candian NA.

In case the ORB didn't mention it, Flight Lieutenant Glen A. Holland was an American. He is listed MIA in several of my sources but the crash site was not identified.

Perhaps the RAF did not investigate the crash, collect police reports, or interview the locals. But maybe someone else did. You might have more success if you tried to track down Glen Holland's family through one of the RCAF veterans associations. They, or perhaps his hometown newspaper may have done the research for you.

Holland earned his RCAF wings in October 1941, and there might be at least one publicly available document that contains his last known U.S. address and/or place of birth.

It does not matter, as all the paperwork will be both at UK and Canada.

There were thousands of crashsites investigated by MREUs and AGRC. There were some cases RAF airmen were investigated by Americans and vice-versa and there were some cases of proper investigation but spoiled at some point.

Just a thought.

Americans that were lost in the service of the RAF were reported in the American MACR's but perhaps not all were.

He might be among those.
