Re: Researching the Luftwaffe through Prisoner Interrogations
Are there any PW interrogations about the weapons that the Luftwaffe used, especially air to air rockets and surface to air rockets?

Re: Researching the Luftwaffe through Prisoner Interrogations
I was contacted by a Luftwaffe pilot. He has a copy of his A.D.I.(K)report. The report is rather general, but he was interviewed several times and is wondering if there are any transcripts of these interrogations and where they are kept.
Thanks Peter |

Re: Researching the Luftwaffe through Prisoner Interrogations
Greetings Peter,
Over a span of some 40 years, I have been through all of the P/W interrogation files I could find at both NARA (WashDC) and BNA (London). No transcripts were seen. Once the interrogation report was written and published, the transcripts became redundant and apparently were later destroyed. Perhaps some others here found some and have a different opinion. L. |

Re: Researching the Luftwaffe through Prisoner Interrogations
A source of interrogations that some may have overlooked are those made by the USSBS teams. There were a number of them at the USAF museum archives. There are probably some in the USSBS record group at National Archives.

The Report was held in a folder and contained the verbatim Q & A, as well as any photographs. The Summary was just that. A summary of what was learned from the interrogation, together with details of their aircraft.

Re: Researching the Luftwaffe through Prisoner Interrogations
Hello everyone,
Is there a finding aid / an index of the ADI(k) files? I am looking for some items quoted by early authors who only gave the name of the interrogated PoW or a not-so-clear reference. A finding aid will help a lot before my next trip to Kew. Thanks, Mori |

Re: Researching the Luftwaffe through Prisoner Interrogations
Yes, there is an index at Kew: AIR 40/2980, "Indexes to AI 1(k) Reports, including Middle East (ME), Allied Force Headquarters (AFHQ) and Combined Mediterranean Force (CMF) reports (1 Jan 1940 – 31 Dec 1944)".
I can't now remember if it includes prisoners' names but it does have units, aircraft types, armament, equipment etc. I only photographed a page covering things I was looking for that day (see attached). |

I don't recall seeing names in any of the indexes for these I've looked at.
