Polish Group Captain

Hi guys

I have a note that a Polish Group Captain accompanied a Hampden crew on a bombing flight sometime in July 1940.

Any ideas? Identity? Date? Crew? Aircraft?

Cheers
Brian

Re: Polish Group Captain

Well, it would be interesting to know how many polish officers were at rank of Group Captain at this time. Maybe it could have been an officer from Polish Air Forces HQ who decided to join this Hampden crew for a bombing mission??

Do you ave any other details on that?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was G/Cpt Boleslaw Stachon, later Polish Officer Commanding of RAF Swinderby. Because of his age he was grounded, but - as we know - he used to fly bombing missions with Polish crews until he was killed in 1941.
