Lt Rolf Müller - Ju87 pilot

Hi all,

This pilot was wounded in 1941 and I am trying to find out what happened to him subsequentially. The chance of him survivng WWII are slim though a final listing would be of interest.

WNr. 5878 was a Ju 87R-2 of the IV.(St)/LG 1 (part of Luftflotte 5). On 30.June 1941 the pilot, Ltn. Rolf Müller was WIA due to Flak, his Bordfunker Uffz. K. Köhlert was KIA at Litsa. The aircraft was a 100% loss.

Anyone got anything more on Lt Rolf Müller?

HNY to everyone.

regards

Mark

Re: Lt Rolf Müller - Ju87 pilot

Information I had.

MÜLLER, Rolf. (DOB: 19.03.20). 04.41 in IV./LG 1. 30.06.41 Lt., IV.(St)/LG 1 WIA - Ju 87R-2 hit by AA from minesweepers Uritskij and Kujbishev. 1941-43 in Erg.Stukagruppe Würzburg, 3./St.G. 5 and 2./St.G. 5. 01.05.43 Oblt. in Nachtfluggruppe Prowehren, trf to St.G. 101. 20.09.44 Oblt. and Staka 2./SG 104.

Had a look on the Volksbund site and came up with this.

Friedhof an besonderer Stelle verzeichnet.
Vorname: Rolf Paul
Dienstgrad: Oberfeldwebel
Geburtsdatum: 19.03.1920
Geburtsort: Kassel
Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 09.05.1945
Todes-/Vermisstenort: in der Nähe von Prag

Died day after WWII. Is it just a fluke same forename/surname and birthday. I'm assuming him being an Oblt in 1944 means he would not be a Ofw in 1945?? unless seriously busted.

Otherwise, how else can I find Oblt Rolf Müller. There is a possibility a Rolf Müller became a military attaché for the DDR during the 60's/70's but have not found out more.

Any thoughts?

regards

Mark

Re: Lt Rolf Müller - Ju87 pilot

I'd go with the military attache. Works well in terms of ranks and age.

  • Müller, Rolf (Oberst)
1959 - 1962 Militärattaché in Albanien
1963 - 1967 Militärattaché in Vietnam1
968 - 1974 Militärattaché in Khmer
1975 - 1978 Militärattaché in Algerien

Would have been 58 when he left the service, normal age for a colonel, I guess.

All the best

Andreas

Hmmm, could this be the same guy?

Look in lower right corner on page 2:

Re: Lt Rolf Müller - Ju87 pilot

Hi Andreas,

Knew the attaché angle. The DTM link is very interesting. I need to speak to Dr Holgar Steinle to find out more.

Thanks for that.

regards
