F4U-1Ds of VMF-351

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find references of F4U Corsairs of VMF-351 aboard USS Gloucester? For some reason it seems to be hard to find any good ones on the net.

For a modelling project I need to know the location of the white and yellow stripes of the wings. Did the stripes appear on both upper and lower surfaces?

For what it is worth ...
From Navy Air Colors vol 1 Squadron Signal book, a few years old now so maybe the info is out of date now.

Answer to your question re a/c on the "USS Cape Glouchester" is generally YES. A/c in Carrier Div 27 all wore simular markings .

Colours of stripes is given as either a Willow Green or a light yellow, with Glossy white tail and wing markings. Some squadrons had one colour stripe while others had two. some stripes ran from for'd to aft on the wings while others were diagonal inboard for'd to out board aftfuselage, top for'd to bottom aft.
