Kari Stenman: Mersu

I recently purchased this book from my friend Kari Stenman. MERSU: Messerschmitt Bf 109G Suomen ilmavoimissa. And as an early warning, all in Finnish. http://personal.inet.fi/business/kar...an/index1.html

This is an oversize book, bigger than A4. 400 pages, and about 2.5 kilos, so postage will be (and was!) expensive. It contains histories of all the Finnish units flying the Bf 109G, with many pictures of aircraft and aircrew. Also short one paragraph histories of each Bf 109G, and a list of them with their ultimate write-off date. A list of victories, some color photos, and color profiles.

I think this will be of interest to Bf 109 enthusiasts, and the Finnish air war.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Re: Kari Stenman: Mersu

A very annoying book to review. Basically it is a book that combines Stenman's previous research on the Bf 109G in Finnish service within a single book. Those seeking a straightforward combat chronicle will be very pleases. However, those seeking either a technical analysis of it in Finnish service or an analytical history in any sense will be equally disappointed. After all, Stenman is an author who does not feel a prison sentence for murder as appropriate information for a fighter ace biography. I would think Rabe Anton would have a field day with Stenman's work.
