Guess I missed this one, and that he didn't return to combat. Regards Johannes |

Re: Hans Clausen of 1./JG 54
Johannes,
There was a Ofw. Hans Clausen of Stab./JG7 KIFA 17 Feb 1945. The incident is described on page 107 of Boehmes book on the history of JG7. I believe this is the same person. My guess on what happened is that on being wounded on 21 May 1942 and after recovery, he probably did a 6 month posting to an Operational Training Unit (probably EJGr Ost which was associated with JG54) - this typically happened with wounded pilots. On return to combat a year later, he may have been hampered by his injuries therefore lack of success and was maybe taken off combat duty and sent to one of the training units (JFS1?) as an instructor - has been known to happen to other pilots. He could have then been one of the veterans that got back into operational flying in 1945, especially when they were after the more experienced pilots to fly the Jets. It's all speculation but a path that may be traced through these units. Regards, Craig...
