Wing Commander Arthur Donaldson

I'm looking for some info on Sqd Ldr Arthur Donaldson, the CO of 263 Sqn from February 1941 to August 1941. Can anyone confirm that this is the same Arthur Donaldson who, as a Wing Commander, commanded 229, 249 and 185 in Malta and who was seriously injured during combat with a number of JU88's on 15th October 1942. He had to crash land his strickened aircraft at Ta Kali, whilst covered with blood and with two fingers severed from his shattered left hand.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Re: Wing Commander Arthur Donaldson

I would also be interested to know of his postings after Malta, the last reference I've been able to find about him is his involvement with the Liberator crash that also involved George "Screwball" Beurling in later 1942.

I think he may have an involvement with 10 Group sometime in 1943, can anyone confirm this.

Re: Wing Commander Arthur Donaldson

Aces High Vol II - Chris Shores, confirms he was one of the survivors of a Liberator crash on the 01Nov42 whilst trying to land at Gibraltar. The aircraft left Malta on 31Oct42 with a number of wounded and tour expired pilots on board. No mention is made in Vol I or II about his late war service, though he remained in the RAF post war.
