RAAF Ferry flight 16/12/1945

Can anyone help with details of a 77 Sqn RAAF ferry flight on 16/12/1945,

Labuan via Balikpapan , Darwin to 6 Aircraft Depot Oakey ,it involved 3 P.40s

and Mustang A68-551 flown by F/Sgt PD.Cogan

I am trying to track down the actual A29- aircraft numbers flown by the

respective pilots.

Pilots of Kittyhawks were F/O F Inger, F/Sgt T Lockwood and F/O A Noldart.

Regards Mike

Have you checked the 77 Sqn history sheets at NAA? They might help.

I have checked the A50 reports that up until the Japanese surrender

are meticulous, with all details....then they become almost a casual narrative.

Hence we know who is fllying , but no mention of the specific aircraft.

Cheers Mike

Try the AWM or RAAF Museum for their logbooks. Failing that you've got Buckley's!
