ZG-1 Pilot Request
Hello,
I have a Wehrpass to a bordfunker of 3./ZG-1 and I am trying to find out who his pilot may of been, at least on his final sortie. The bordfunker's name was (Unteroffizier) Hans Westermann. He joined 3./ZG-1 on 19th October 1942 and was shot down and killed on 14th July 1943 3km SW Kapiwna Plgu(?) 54364 (as stated in his WP.) I can not find his entry in the Volksbund database to help refine the crash loaction. Casualties/Courses aside was it normal for 2 or 3 man aircrew to remain together on various sorties or would there be a constant chopping & changing? |

Re: ZG-1 Pilot Request
Gentlemen:
Wreck of this aircraft with crewmembers remains were found some years ago, and only recently were identified. How could we contact with possible relatives? |

You could try writing to the Deutsche Dienststelle in Berlin. They hold details of next of kin at the time of the loss (and perhaps present-day relatives). However, getting info from there has become very difficult in recent years. The best way might be to tell them of the find and ask them to inform present day relatives. Good luck!

Re: ZG-1 Pilot Request
Perfect, John.
His aircraft crashed very close to town Uzlovaya, and archeologist, who escavated several Bf110's already, is very ineterested in finding this aircraft, because he lives in Uzlovaya directly. He is now searching hard for crashplace. Of course, I'll inform You on the result. P.S. Do You know occasionally, from what unit he was posted to II./SKG210? |
