Need Staffel Assignment of Lt. Dietrich Weyergang a pilot in III./ZG 76 during the Battle of Britain
Hi,
Can anyone provide the Staffel of III./ZG76 to which Lt. Dietrich Weyergang was assigned as a pilot? He is believed to have scored 5 victories in the Bf110, all probably achieved during the Battle of Britain. Any details on the dates of these victories and the sources for this info? Thanx for any help you can provide. |

Re: Need Staffel Assignment of Lt. Dietrich Weyergang a pilot in III./ZG 76 during the Battle of Britain
Hi! May be this could help:
From SIG: http://www.luftwaffe.no/SIG/Losses/tap412.html Quote:
08-02-41 Ltn. D.Weyergang ? Sola I./JG77 Z. Lockheed 13:48 35km SW Stavanger From Michael Holm's page: http://www.ww2.dk/air/jagd/stavanger.htm Quote:
Gunther Tonne's claims are listed with his 9./ZG 76, but Helmiuth Viedebannt, Karl-Fritz Schlosstein, Rolf Hermichen (originally 8./ZG 76 pilots) and Gunther Reineke (originally StaKa 8./ZG 76) as claims are listed as with "Z Kette I./JG77". The most strange: thing that when 1.(Z)/JG77 was reformed into 6.(Z)/JG5 (on25.1.42), then 10.(Z)/JG5 (on 16.3.42), and untill 26.6.42 (when it was finally renamed into renamed 13.(Z)/JG5) Oblt. Karl-Fritz Schlosstein was its Staffel Kapitan! And Viedebannt, Hermichen, Reineke came back to their own 8./ZG 76, but Karl-Fritz Schlosstein not! So 8./ZG 76 is probably was his original staffel. But Michael Holm tells directly that 1.(Z)/JG77 formed 6.41 from 2./ZG76 (not from 8./ZG 76)... I could only propose that some crew's that in spring 1941 some 8./ZG 76 pilots were attached to 2./ZG 76 to form 1(Z)./JG 77, but some of them was moved back to ther original staffeln and some of them stood in Zerstorerstaffel./JG77 - JG 5. Best wishes.

Eugen, you are mistaken with your last post.
Me 110C W.Nr 2185 was coded L2+ER and served with 7(F) LG2!! Oblt E Weyergang killed, his Bordfunker Fw G Nelson captured, but died later the same day from his injuries. Different Weyergang im afraid, and not Larry's man. Best regs, Steve. |
