Did not watch it yet, but the claim "worst" is so ridiculous as to question the sanity of anyone uttering it.

In Defense of the Worst Plane of WW2-Brewster Buffalo

Hi guys

I remember watching this video when it came out. It gives a good overview of the specifications and requirements for which the type was designed and which unfortunately were the reasons why it quickly fell behind its more illustrious contemporaries in spite of actually being a good aircraft when at the peak of its development. The video also points out that the B-339E fighters of the Commonwealth squadrons and the B-339C/D fighters of the Dutch squadrons were certainly not to blame for the debacle in southeast Asia in the beginning of the Pacific War but rather other shortcomings and oversights were the critical factors for the Allied defeat. Those interested in this aircraft are recommended to read Buffalos over Singapore by Cull, Sortenhaus and Haselden.

Horrido!

Anybody wanting access to an archive of material & sources on the Brewster fighter in WWII should visit "Annals of the Brewster Buffalo" at Daniel Ford's website (link below). It's the best source on the internet.

Ford is the author of "The Sorry Saga of the Brewster Buffalo: A Flying Coffin to the U.S. Marines, but a Pearl to the Finns" which was the cover story of the June / July 1996 issue of Smithsonian Air & Space Magazine (vol. 11 no. 2). It is also available in Kindle format at amazon.

Hi Edward

In addition to and supplementing your excellent suggestion, I can also recommend the message board of that web site, which is a treasure trove of information on the type's service in Southeast Asia, not the least due to the contributions of Mark Haselden and Jim Maas. Additionally, there's a considerable amount of information on the AVG as well.
