Hans Schwerdtfeger

Hello friends,

I am seeking details about the career of Lt. Hans Schwerdtfeger, Nachtjagd-pilot with the 8./NJG 5, then with the Luftbeob.St. 3 in Venlo. Apparantly he has survived WW-2 because he is listed on the guestlist from a nightfighter reunion many years ago.

He might have switched to a Schlachtgeschwader later, because he got the DKiG in October 1944 according to Scherzers book about the DKiG recipients.

Other info is most appreciated ! All the best,

Marcel Hogenhuis

Re: Hans Schwerdtfeger

Hello Remi,

Many thanks for your answer! Do you have the Flugbuch of Georg Fieser, he was Bordfunker with Schwerdtfeger but I first could not make it out who was Fiesers pilot. When I discovered that the Flugbuch of Fieser was signed by a Tischtau, I discovered that Fieser must have been in the 8./NJG 5 or - more generally - the III./NJG 5. Then I looked for names beginning with 'Sch' and ending with 'eger' and in the NJWD of Theo Boiten I found a match: Hans Schwerdtfeger. Therefore: the Schwerdtfeger of NJG 3 must be the right one and we also know that he survived WW-2.

Thanks and a warm 'amicalement' from Venlo,
