posting photos

I joined the Forum about 10 years ago but only a few times have I participated in discussions having problems with my English which is not very good.
In all these years I have consulted the various discussions several times but, as I said, without actively participating.
For this reason I have never had the opportunity to post photos.
Recently, after posting a message on the thread "Help with unidentified plates" of August 4, 2022

I also wanted to attach some photos I had in my album on Flikr.
After uploading a series of images, I had regularly posted the message but neither the images nor the related links to Flikr appeared, I don’t know why.
A few days ago I received a reply from “schwarze-man” with a comment on two of the pictures. When I asked how he was able to see the images, which do not appear on my PC, he replied that on his computer he saw, at the bottom of the page, the links to the Flikr album.
Now I don't know if he could only see the links or even the images.
I can't understand how and where I went wrong.
I also thought it might be a Firefox browser problem and tried using Chrome but I can't see the photos and links with that either.
I also tried creating an album on this forum by importing the same photos from Flikr and everything worked perfectly.
In the new album the photos can be seen perfectly but I have not yet tried to attach them to a post by taking them from the new album.
Now I wonder if other users have also had this problem and, if so, how they fixed it.
Any help will be precious to me also because I am not very experienced with computers and programs.

As you might have seen from any number of other posts over the last year or so, you can’t attach photos to posts because the site exceeded its permitted capacity and crashed for about two weeks. It could only be restored without the facility to attach images.

You can however link to photos hosted elsewhere on the web and lots of members do that.

First you open a free account on https://imgbb.com/
Then you create a new album on this website.

Make it “private/everyone with link”
Upload a photo like this:
- First hit “upload”, then “browse on your computer”
- Choose your album
- Hit “upload”
Once uploaded hit “Viewer links”. Here you can choose which kind and size you like. I always use “BBCode Full linked”.
Copy the link and paste it in the message box on TOCH. You do NOT have to use the “insert link” feature of TOCH. Just copy the link in the message box.

Thanks RudiS, to tell the truth I already have an album on Flikr and from this I inserted some photos in the message, I will do other tests and eventually I will also try with Imgbb.

Next time I will try to put the links directly in the message box as you suggest.

What I ask myself, however, is why when I see, on my monitor, the message posted by me I cannot see the links to the photos while other users of the forum, when they read the same post, in the lower part of the Box the links are clearly visible and active.

This is the strange thing, others see the links but I cannot see them.

I don't know about Flikr but with Imgbb you don't see any links to click at at all in your post. You just see the photo together with what any text you have typed.

If that's what you say, it looks like Immgbb certainly works better.

I will try to sign up and do some tests.

Years ago, before the server crash, everything was simpler but we have to take what comes and thank the skill of the technicians who managed to restore the Forum.
