Ju88 III/KG30 bombed U-334 4 July 1942
Hi guys
Is this correct? That during Convoy PQ17 to Russia a Ju88 from III/KG30 erroneously bombed U-334? Has anyone any info? Cheers Brian |

Re: Ju88 III/KG30 bombed U-334 4 July 1942
U-334 had sunk the SS Earlston (evening of the 5th.) and had taken its captain aboard, as it moved away on the surface it was attacked by the Ju 88. Two bombs came close to U-334 damaging the steering and making it impossible to submerge, It was then escorted back to Neidenfjord by U-456 arriving in 6.7.42. U -334 was later sunk with all hands on 14.6.43 by HMS Pelican and HMS Jed off Iceland.
