German log books (Flugbuch)

Hi again,

for my publications about the air war in Polish campaign 1939 - I hope to bring them out in the near future in German and English language - I am still looking for copies of log books of German airmen. Fighters, bombers, reconnaissance and all other.

Such a "Flugbuch" mostly contains one page (maximally two pages) for the period September 1939, so it isn`t much work...

Many thanks,

Marius

Marius, are you familiar with the Luftwaffe Verband magazine, published in the USA? In the latest issues, comprehensive Luftwaffe aircraft loss lists were published, starting with... 1 Sept. 1939. It might help fill in some blanks.

Re: German log books (Flugbuch)

Hi Denes,
I am member of Luftwaffe Verband since a couple of years.
I know the loss lists and I have analyzed them for my work within other German documents. But I am looking for hours of operations of units where the known informations are poor.

Hi Marius,

Have you looked Eric Mombeek's site, he has a fairly large grouping of Flugbucher from a variety of unit types.

http://www.luftwaffe.be/

Apart from Eric's collection noted above I don't know of anyone who has taken the time to list or copy Flugbucher.

Regards

Jeremy

FB Collection Walter Waiss

Hi Marius,

I think you should contact Walter Waiss, author of several books about KG27. To my knowledge Walter has the largest collection of Flugbücher (logs), literally hundreds. The only possible fly in the ointment, I hope that you have something in exchange.....

Your second best bet is Barry Rosch (editor of the LW Verband) himself, Barry also has a substantial collection of Flugbücher.

Hope this helps,

Marcel

Hi all,
many thanks! I know Waiss, Rosch and Mombeek. And I will knock at their door again...
