Hi Guys

Sad news

Seems that Ekkehard Bob has died aged ninety-six, source seems to be the "Fliegerblatt". I'll try to find out more details.

Regards

Re: Hans-Ekkehard Bob

This is very sad news, he was one of the last survivors from the Kanalkampf of 1940.

Re: Hans-Ekkehard Bob

Hi Guys

I was in correspondance with him twenty years ago, he sent me the first fifty-eight of his sixty claims as a list, but didn't know the dates of the last two.....I'm guessing his lastest log-book was probably stolen at the end of the war. A few years later I found the two on the daily micro films entries and forwarded them to him. I found a few of his claims were never confirmed(including the B-17), but his claims do seem honest.

As you say he was always enthusiastic to share knowledge. He will be missed.

Regards

Johannes

Re: Hans-Ekkehard Bob

Sad news. I guess I'll read this weekend the book Christer Bergstroem wrote about him.

Re: Hans-Ekkehard Bob

This is very sad to hear.

I had a great honour spending 3 days with Mr Bob when he was visiting Finland together with Walter Schuck and Peter Spoden in March 2009. He was a gentleman, officer and also a very successful businessman after the war.

I will remember the rest of my life the moment when these three veterans were laying flowers on the grave of German soldiers at the Hietaniemi cemetery, Helsinki. After that Bob, 92 year old former Luftwaffe major stood at a perfect attention for a moment and did a military hand salute for the fallen comrades (he had a cap on).

Horrido!

Re: Hans-Ekkehard Bob

Very sad news!
I had the honour of meeting him together with Walter Schuck, Hajo Herman, Willi Reschke, Hugo Broch and Werner Scheufele when they all did sign the art prints I made in 2009.
It was a pleasure to talk with him.

Re: Hans-Ekkehard Bob

Sad to hear of the passing of Hans-Ekkehard Bob. I met him in 2009 in Germany, when he was signing some pencil drawings and prints I made. He was a very kind person. I will always remember him.
