Galland and unknown EKI winner Pic ID?

Can anyone ID the EKI winner with Galland in the photo. Could it be Hans-Jürgen Westphal (20)?

Thanks,

Rob

Note also that the Iron Cross 1st class winner is wearing the sholder tab of an Oberleutnant.

New Candidate???

Emil Babenz seems to bear a strong resemblence, although he finished as an Obfw. and the man next to Galland seems to be wearing the 'bars' of an Oblt.

-Any thoughts?

Re: Galland and unknown EKI winner Pic ID?

Looks like the same person, however as Rob and I spoke Via PM the Rank? is wrong, Does any member know if Babenz served with Galland? That question is posted on my behalf? Both serving in JG26 during the same period makes it likely? However a Date of the photo posted by Rob would be helpful in pinning this down. I would say Rob's photo in question shows him at a time after his 40th victory, The Mickey Mouse was not under the canopy when photos were taken exiting the 109 after his 40th, And are in Rob's..
So Champaign and all would lead one to beleive photo was taken after 50, 60 etc....Vic?
interested in hearing from other members....

Re: Galland and unknown EKI winner Pic ID?

I am going on the Hot Seat and saying the occasion of his 50th victory, Page 50 of the book "A Pilots Life shows Galland in the same Gear and was most likely from the same photo shoot? Any others here agree?
Who was present at the celebration?
