Hi All,

Searching for loss data concerning Fw. Gottfried Otto who was killed on the 30th January 1944. Any further details would be appreciated!

Per Caldwell, this pilot abandoned his aircraft and was shot in his chute.

Jim,

I saw that in Caldwell's book also, but I would like to know where he got it from as I do not believe this is correct. The NVM does not say anything about it and the Ehrenbuch (RL10/270) says literally:

"Die Leiche des Fw. Otto wurde am Fallschirm 13 km südsüdostwärts Amersfoort mit Genickbruch, Brandwunden am Kopf und Beinverletzungen aufgefunden".

This does not indicate he was shot while descending in a parachute.
