Bf.109 wreck found in the Tyrrhenian sea

A group of italian divers has found the wreck of a Bf.109G-6.
They think it could be Bf.109G-6 wr. nr. 162739 of the 3./JG 77 lost on may 15, 1944 in a Luftkampf, pilot Gefr. Hans Joachim Kautz missing.

I've read in the JG 77 history written by Dr. Prien that the pilot was posted missing in the Acquapendente/Montalto area.

Does anyone may give any additional detail about that combat, the place where the aircraft went down and the story of the aircraft itself?

Thank you

Gianandrea

So far, I've got only the joined pictures of one of the machine guns.
I think that an article about this aircraft will appear in "Ali Antiche", the magazine of the Gruppo Amici Velivoli Storici (www.gavs.it).

I can't help very much, but this extract from MATAF Int/Opsum No. 401 may be of interest.
