Further Luftwaffe losses over England 1941
Hi,
Have just received really useful information on Luftwaffe aircrew lost over England. Found out new way to find information myself. Can anyone provide information onthe following two Luftwaffe aircrew lost over England? 1) Max Zieringer - Oberfeldwebel - lost on 11th May 1941 in a mission against England. Which unit, target, other crew, lost over sea/land etc 2) Ludwig Guftav (Prinz Biron von Curland) - Leutnant in a bomber squadron - lost on 11th April 1941. Which unit, target, other crew, lost over sea/land etc. Thanks for your help. It is most interesting how you gather this information. I am just a beginner but keen. Many thanks Rick |

Re: Further Luftwaffe losses over England 1941
I only have basic info that Ltn. Prinz Biron Ludwig Gustav von Kurland was the pilot of a He 111 of 7/KG 55 shot down over the Channel on 10/11.04.1941, with target Birmingham.
Ofw. Max Zieringer was the Bm of a He 111 of 1/KG 53 killed during a raid on London I assume the aircraft returned, perhaps another researcher has more on thiis one. Source for these were books on KG 53, and KG 55, Regards Brian |

Hi Rick
Welcome aboard. I am a relative newcomer to this site - it's the tops! All I can offer is gleaned from Jack Foreman's 1941 Part 2 book: von Kurland (he also spells it with a 'K') He111P2 (WkNr.1617) G1+LR Cheers Brian |

Re: Further Luftwaffe losses over England 1941
Many thanks for information and new leads.
Is there a losses record like the one posted for KG55 for KG53? Have yet to find out much aboutMax Zieringer. He appears very interesting as he was awarded a Golden Spanish Cross for his efforts with the Legion Condor prior to World War II. Can anyone help? |
