VVS Regimental Structure and HQ Positions
By Autumn 1942 the TO&E for VVS aviation regiments was re-established at 32 aircraft (and presumably 32 pilots). Was this as per the August 1941 TO&E of 3 sqns of 10 aircraft + 2 command aircraft?
I ask this because in various books I've come across the following regimental command and executive positions: Rgt C/O, deputy C/O, Chief of Navigation, Chief of Gunnery (weapons), Rgt Commissar, ie 5 positions not the 2 noted in the above structure. Does anyone know if all the rgt executive officers belonged to the rgt HQ or could senior sqn C/Os fulfill one of the above positions whilst still leading their respective sqns, or did the rgts comply with the December 1941 TO&E of 9 aircraft per sqn (3 x sqn (3x9)) + HQ Flt (of presumably 5 a/c = to the number of executive positions) making a total of 32 aircraft. Re: VVS Regimental Structure and HQ Positions
Sorry for bumping this question back to the top of the list.
As a number of esteemed Russian authors/researchers have been posting recently I wandered if one of them might know the answer to the above question. Best Regards Andy Fletcher |
